Pointed Foot

What does a Biomechanical Assessment Involve?

An assessment involves taking a history, examining joint ranges of motion and alignment, and assessing muscle strength and flexibility. If appropriate, a video may be taken of the individual walking, running or performing sport* (*following initial consultation). The video is played back in slow motion to enable the dynamic functioning of the lower limbs to be assessed. In this way it is possible to find the underlying cause of your injury and provide treatment that will help to ensure a long-term solution.

The focus will be on improving your lower-limb function

so that you are able to return to sustained comfort and fitness

Treatment is individually tailored depending on the nature of your problem and the activities you participate in. This may involve giving specific exercises to balance muscular action within the feet and limbs and the prescription of a pair of either temporary or permanent orthotic devices. Advice may also be given on footwear and rehabilitation training programs. For professional and elite sports/dance performers, a report can be provided for your coach/trainer/physio and regular liaison with them regarding your care is encouraged.
